year-end status -- logistics matters From: sag::6913::"nitta@isass3.solar.isas.ac.jp" Date: Fri, 25 Dec 92 21:44:03 -0800 Tomorrow is my last day of service in Japan this year (I probably won't be in at all on Monday) and it will be fairly hectic producing transparencies for the AAS meeting, so I now briefly report on logistics issues. Sony Tektronics received the payment for reparing the color printer. Greg must have received a FAX from them. The car was replaced. The new one is of the same model (Honda Concerto) and the same color. The tag shows 702 -- the old one was 704. I will park it at the same location as before at ISAS and leave the key in the drawer beside Mons's desk. I will hand-carry three tapes for LPARL (weeks 91_51, 92_50, and 92_51) and dump them in front of ncd007 in my office on 28 or 29 December. Shuto san made a nice routine to list on a workstation the latest 15 (real-time) or 30 (playback) passes in the 4 KSC and temporary areas of SIRIUS. He may charge LPARL for his work, but AUTO_TOBAN will work perfectly after Mons incorporate it in the system. Shuto san is now aware of overlapping data that sometimes happens when transferring SIRIUS data to a workstation. This is clearly a problem of Kato san (in SIRIUS software). This item is too technical to report here. MO drives were installed yesterday, but owing to miscommunications bwtween Ogawara san and the vendor the platters won't arrive until 8 or 9 January. According to Shimizu kun, they won't be more than 20. Anyway we have to think about how to archive the database at ISAS. The flare5 workstation will be gone to KSC in mid January, so we have to give away its hard disk pretty soon. According to Shimizu kun, Ogawara san has not placed an order for its replacement, so there will be no flare5' for an indefinite period of time. I am looking forward to seeing you after the AAS meeting. Nariaki Date: Wed, 30 Dec 92 09:32:16 -0800 From: sag::ISASS1::hudson (Hugh S. Hudson) Subject: ops meeting Hooray! The last ops meeting of 1992 ended with beer and good feelings. Among the interesting items that were reported were... The new MO disk drives are installed. The platters themselves will start arriving the first week of January and a total of 50 has been ordered. Flare5 is on its way to KSC in mid-January with Shimizu-san, along with the sxt username for gbo_mail etc. Yohkoh is on its way tonight for a week of automatic observations. The HIREGS balloon may have been launched. The Sun is quiet (the top flare listed this week in the toban's report was C1.1!). Happy new year to all Hugh
