SSOC Tohban's Report for Week 12 (15-Mar-99 -- 21-Mar-99) SSOC : S.Kubo, T.Shimizu KSC : T.Takanashi, S.Nagata 0. Meeting Attendance No meeting was held because of a national holiday. -------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Solar Activity One C-class flare occured on 15 March, 1999. And, one M-class and another C-class flare occured on 16 March, 1999. -------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Standard Operations 2.1 SXT Table Uploads The following SXT tables were uploaded during week 12: ===================================================== JST Date Pass Table ID ===================================================== 16-MAR-99 4 990316 P3 ARS2 DAR 17-MAR-99 2 990317 P2 ARS2 DIF 18-MAR-99 2 990318 P2 ARS2 STD 19-MAR-99 3 990319 P3 ARS1 STD 20-MAR-99 3 990320 P3 ARS1 STD ===================================================== 2.2 STT Timer setting STT timer was set during pass 3 on 16-Mar-99 (JST). -------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Errors and Problems 3.1 BCS Errors: None. 3.2 SXT Errors: None. 3.3 NASA Tracking Stations: Nothing to report. 3.4 Clock in KSC Ground Facility A problem in clock generator was found on 15 March (Mon) after the power outage on Sunday. The problem is that the clock generator does not provide clock signals properly. Since the clock signals are used in ground-based tracking equippments, such as MS computer and 20m antena, the operation was carried out without usual automated procedures on 15 March. Considering the case of unexpected difficulities in tracking, we did not have planned SXT table upload on 15 March. Only OP upload and BDR repro were carried out. The problem was fixed before the tracking on 16 March (Tue). 3.5 Inconsistency in DSN final schedule between W12 and W13 -------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Special Operations 4.1 Coping with `Year 2000 problem' for S3500 On 19 March (Fri), Fujitsu engineers coped with `Year 2000 problem' for S3500. The working contents are as follows. 1. Grading up software. 2. Confirmation of reaction of QL system to dummy data on 1999. 3. Confirmation of reaction of QL system to RL/PB data on 1999. 4. Confirmation of reaction of QL system to dummy data on 2000. 5. Confirmation of reaction of QL system to storage data on 2000. 6. Confirmation of function taransmitting data on 1999/2000 to workstation through GPIB. The above works were completed before the tracking on 19 March (Fri). -------------------------------------------------------------- 5. NASA Station Scheduling 5.1 Contact pass cancels/adds The following DSN/NASA passes were added/deleted: =================================================================== DSN/NASA Schedule Week Schedule Changes =================================================================== Final 13 4 passes deleted by SSOC 1 pass deleted by SSOC (Requesting now) (083 SOL 46 1642) Preliminary 14 1 pass deleted by SSOC 6 passes added by SSOC Strawman 15 35 passes deleted by SSOC 9 passes deleted for conflict =================================================================== 5.2 Data Transmission from NASA Ground Stations -(From /home/flare1/yohkoh/dsn_corrupt/99_12)------------ 060 76 1453 corrupted tape Requested 10 MAr Closed/ same data 062 66 0525 missing Requested 10 Mar Closed/ same data 066 76 0430 not received Requested 10 Mar corrupted tape Requested 17 Mar 066 76 1119 corrupted tape Requested 10 MAr Closed/ correct data 069 76 0335 not received Requested 16 Mar Closed/ correct data 069 76 0515 not received Requested 16 Mar Closed/ correct data 069 76 0658 not received Requested 16 Mar Closed/ correct data 069 76 0840 not received Requested 16 Mar 069 76 1024 corrupted tape Requested 17 Mar 070 80 0349 corrupted tape Requested 17 Mar 070 76 0531 not received Requested 16 Mar 070 76 0713 corrupted tape Requested 17 Mar 071 76 0224 not received Requested 16 Mar 071 80 0404 not received Requested 16 Mar 071 76 0546 corrupted tape Requested 17 Mar 072 76 0239 not received Requested 16 Mar 072 80 0420 not received Requested 16 Mar 072 76 0602 not received Requested 16 Mar 072 76 0745 not received Requested 16 Mar 072 76 0928 not received Requested 16 Mar -------------------------------------------------------------- 6. KSC Pass Conflicts and Schedule In week 12, 4 KSC contacts to ASCA, and 4 to HALCA. In week 13, 3 KSC contacts to ASCA, 4 to AKEBONO, and 4 to HALCA. -------------------------------------------------------------- 7. Hikitsugi Items 7.1 Tohbans for week 13 SSOC: M.Takahashi KSC: S.Nagata, K.Shinoda 7.2 STT timer setting STT timer setting is due on Tuesday, 23-Mar-99 (JST) 7.3 Holiday Schedule The next holiday will be 28-Mar (JST) in week 13. ====== The following is the same as the previous week's report. ====== 7.6 Manual and Checksheet A new version of the English Tohban Manual was generated during the week, along with a corresponding new Tohban Checksheet. The new (and all future) Tohbans are requested to note any changes or mistakes in the manual, and to notify A. Sterling of the changes. If the changes involve the DSN procedures or the ~yohkoh/wallops/README file, Hugh Hudson san should also be notified. Please include your name (or initials) next to your suggested corrections. Current Version Yohkoh Tohban Duties Manual Rev. 1-Feb-99, A. Sterling README (Manual for Wallops/DSN Operations) Ver.5.2 28-Sep-98, H. Hudson The Japanese SSOC Tohban Manual was last modified on 23-Nov-98 by Ishii and Ichimoto san-tachi. 7.7 Some Problems in OP_FIRST_GUESS - NASA tracking passes Hudson san has modified DSN_INPUT.PRO to take care of an op_first_guess problem in picking up some NASA passes occurring near 0 hours UT (see week 98_37 SSOC report for a detailed description of the problem). All seems to be fine now, but for a while Tohbans should double check that all the passes assigned to us by NASA in the latest final schedule are actually included in the OP. - Maximum Elevation In determining zenith passes, Tohbans should use the maximum altitude listed in the Weekly Visible Diagram, rather than the value on the command sheets. (See week 99_04 SSOC Tohban report for more details). 7.8 DSN Pass Additions (from week48_98 report) Pass addition requests can now conveniently be made (preferably at the Preliminary Schedule stage) using the add_dsn routine. See the wallops directory README file, and the Tohban Manual section on DSN Scheduling. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8. Action Items 8.1 Further software development. Status CONTINUING. It would be greatly appreciated if the SSOC tohbans could recommend any software development that they think will save future tohbans time and which improves the reliability of their work. 8.2 Week-48-A/I-1 /Hudson/status AJAR. PRINT_OGALL still does not work well. Hudson will fix it. === END ===
