SSOC Tohban Report for Week 08 (17 Feb -- 23 Feb 1997) SSOC : A. Okubo & K. AKita KSC : S. Akiyama & H. Sekiguchi Meeting Attendance : Akita, Hudson, Kosugi, Lemen, Metcalf, Nakakubo Sawa, Slater, Sterling, Watanabe 1. Solar Activity: This week started quietly from sub A GOES X-ray level. Solar activity gradually increased as a new EFR (NOAA AR8018) appeared. It pruduced several C/B class flares on 20-Feb on the west limb. Unfortunately, Yohkoh missed them due to satellite's night and SAA. While AR8018 was going behind the limb, another brighter active region was appearing from the east limb in the latter half of this week. 2. Week 09: 1 pass will be canceled for ASCA , 4 passes for AKEBONO and 3 passes for HALCA. 2 more passes may be canceled depending on HALCA's status. 6. Special Operations: Campaign mode observations for NEAR occultation were included in the ops for 17-Feb and 19-Feb. 7. Holiday Schedule: The next holiday will be 2-March-1997. 8. It's not supposed to affect our operation, but it may be wise to prepare for an accidental outage. 8.5 Suggestion to DSN selection rule: mail from JPL I understand that you access RASM and choose the passes that are made available to you. We would like you to use the Wallops (WFF) passes as much as possible. In other words, if a pass from one of the DSN sites (Goldstone, Madrid or Canberra) can be substituted by a WFF pass, please use the WFF pass and delete the DSN pass, instead of vise versa. Please understand we are not asking you to give up any coverage but if the same coverage can be accomplished by using WFF instead of the DSN, we would like you to do so. (Albert Chang) 9. Action Items 9.1 Week-42-A/I-1 /Hudson, Lemen, Yoshida/ status: Open T. Yoshida has produced preliminary software to aid in optimizing the Yohkoh DP rate in OPs. Jim Lemen is working on it at the moment investigating advantage/disadvantage of the possible cases. 9.2 Week-07-A/I-1 /Hudson, Sawq/ status: OPEN Sawa-san raised the doubt that the CCD bake-out affect the temperature structure on YOHKOH and hence HXT calibration. H. Hudson investigated it and found that the temprature increase was negligible compared to the fluctuation caused by HV off etc. 9.3 Week-08-A/I-1 /Hudson/ status: Open SXTSTP software started to give unnecessary warnings after its revision about one month ago. Fujitsu poeple are checking the code. --- end of report
