IAU Solar Eclipse Education Committee
In order to ensure that astronomers and public health authorities have access to information
related to safe viewing practices, the International Astronomical Union, the international organization for
professional astronomers, set up a Solar Eclipse Education Committee. Under Prof. Jay M. Pasachoff of
Williams College, the Committee has assembled information on safe methods of observing the Sun and solar
eclipses, eclipse-related eye injuries, and samples of educational materials
on solar eclipses.
