Preliminary 2008 SOHO LASCO Coronal Mass Ejection List (Revised 31-Dec-2008 --- GAS) N.B. This is a working version of a catalogue of activity and probable coronal mass ejections detected in white light observations of the LASCO coronagraphs. This list is maintained at the SOHO Experimenters' Operations Facility, and it is based on an examination of only quick-look data, which represents a subset of the final LASCO dataset. Questions about this list should be directed to: planner@lasco6.nascom.nasa.gov . Note some changes to lists from years during solar maximum: 1) Smaller events 'now' taken into account when possible due to the decline of the solar activity cycle. Some gusty outflow well into next day. 18:54 ENE - Very narrow (jet-like) loop front that fades through C2. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12-Dec-2008: ************ 08:54 NW - Diffuse, faint loop front develops as a wide front spanning by midday from around the N Pole up to the SW quadrant (counterclockwise). It is immediately followed by another wide loop front spanning in the early afternoon from the W Limb up to past the N Pole (clockwise). The latter is apparently not discernible in C3, while the former shows up very faint, fading well before reaching the end of the FOV (WIDTH in C3 by 15:42 UT: ~ 115 deg). 09:30 SE - Narrow spray-like front. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 13-Dec-2008: ************ 01:31 S - Jet-like front that quickly fades. 07:31 N - Faint jet-like front. 07:31 S - Diffuse jet-like front. 15:54 W - Initially bright and small ragged front develops as a diffuse, asymmetric loop front. Some small ragged front in the trail. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 14-Dec-2008: ************ 09:30 W - Ragged elongated front (leading edge not well defined). 12:54 NNE - Jet-like front. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 15-Dec-2008: ************ 11:30 ENE - Very faint elongated, diffuse loop front that fades through C2. 18:54 ESE - Slow development of a thin loop front follow on E by the gradual development of an apparently twisted structure.
