KEYHOLE Operations: ------------------- 2008/05/07 - 2008/05/25: 26 m keyhole 2008/05/11 - 2008/05/21: 34 m keyhole - LASCO closed doors on Sunday 2008/05/18 @ 21:30 UT in prep for for S/C Maneuvers (SK, MM. and Roll) on 05/19. - LASCO will resume observations on Wednesday 2008/05/21 @ 00:30 UT. - EIT CCD Bakeout Plan: 2008/05/16 18:30 UT - 2008/05/22 05:00 UT. Observations will then resume on 05/22 @ ~ 16:00 UT. During Bakeout period: LASCO in improved synoptics ==> C2 @ 12 min cadence, C3 @ 30 min cadence. - Between 05/16 - 05/22, LASCO will remain idle during the telemetry no-record outage periods.
04:54 UT S East Ragged elongated loop front. Blob-like front discernible in the trail by 09:30 UT. 15:30 UT S East Faint ragged front becomes discernible in the of previous event.
10:36 UT E Limb Bright loop front surrounded by diffuse and very faint extensions (ahead, and well to the N and S). The (very asymmetric) extensions seem to cover the C2 occulting disk after midday (the signal on W is just barely discernible, while on E is well past the outer edge of the FOV). The bright loop front is first seen in C3 at 11:18 UT. The width of the main loop-like structure in C3 at 13:18 UT is ~ 40 deg. The diffuse (and very faint) extensions span all the way from the SE Limb up to almost past the N Pole. The plane-of-sky speed of the LE of the bright loop-like structure at PA 94 is ~640 km/sec (based on C3 data) showing practically no acceleration. GOES recorded a B1.7 X-ray event between 10:05 - 10:32 UT with peak emission at 10:16 UT (from NOAA AR 10996).
10:24 - 20:57 UT LASCO Data Gap (C2 time). LASCO close doors at 21:30 UT in prep for the SOHO S/C Maneuvers on 05/19 @ ~ 16:00 UT. Last C2 image before closing doors: 21:12 UT
LASCO doors closed.
