LASCO Activity Report for
May 23, 2006 SOHO Science Daily Meeting
Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg
Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.
Points Of Interest
2006/05/22 (Monday)
00:06 UT E Limb Faint and diffuse loop front that fades throughout C2.
06:06 UT E Limb Another faint and diffuse front.
20:30 UT ES East Faint and diffuse ragged loop front with diffuse
loop-like extensions on ENE. By 21:08 UT, a very faint
and diffuse loop-like feature can be seen expanding
on W, fading throughout the C2 FOV. By 23:06 UT the S
Pole is covered (though the signal quickly fades
there). The part of the event developing toward E
appears very faint in C3 (and visible only close to
the inner edge of the C3 FOV). GOES recorded a B6.4
X-ray flare on NOAA AR 10884 (S13E14) between 19:37 -
20:06 UT with peak emission at 19:52 UT. EIT 195
images show a CME signature coming out from AR 10884
between 19:36 - 21:12 UT, characterized by the
formation of a dimming region mainly to S of the AR.
