LASCO Activity Report for
May 15, 2006 SOHO Science Daily Meeting
Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg
Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.
Points Of Interest
2006/05/12 (Friday)
E Limb The development of a twisted structure [1] on E
continues.
S West Couple of faint ragged fronts start to be discernible
early on the day.
19:30 UT E Limb Faint loop front in the trialing material of [1]. It
fades throughout C3.
2006/05/13 (Saturday)
00:30 UT E Limb Couple of faint and diffuse fronts preceding the
development of events reported to start at 06:25 and
08:48 UT, both on E.
03:16 UT N East Jet-like front.
06:25 UT N East Diffuse jet-like front.
06:25 UT E Limb Diffuse and elongated ragged front developing slightly
toward ENE. It fades close to the inner edge of C3.
08:48 UT E Limb Diffuse loop front ahead of bright front with
apparently twisted trailing material.
19:31 UT E Limb Asymmetric front (brighter on ENE) in the trailing
material of event reported to start at 08:48 UT.
Blob-like front on ENE, just to N of the northern leg.
2006/05/14 (Sunday)
15:06 UT E Limb Very faint and diffuse front that fades throughout C2.
21:54 UT S East Relatively bright and wide ragged front, already
spanning all the way from ENE up to past the S Pole.
Extremely faint and diffuse extensions all above the
western limb. The N Pole is covered by the faint
extensions by ~ 22:30 UT. The event is first seen
in C3 all above the SE Limb, but much brighter on E.
It quickly fades. The extension on W are barely
discernible. No significant X-ray activity recorded by
GOES during the day (background x-ray flux below the
A2 level).
2006/05/15 (Monday)
No significant activity...
