Points Of Interest
Mercury can be seen now in the C3 FOV, in the southern hemisphere, moving
from right to left. It is expected to be in the C3 FOV until around Feb 2.
2006/01/24 (Tuesday)
00:54 UT S West Very narrow (jet-like) loop front that fades very
close to the iner edge of C3.
02:30 UT N Pole Jet-like front.
12:06 UT N East Extremely faint ragged front starts to be discernible.
Difficult to give an exact time of first appearance.
It can be better seen in C3 (where it is first seen at
around 14:42 UT just appearing above the NE limb). It
fades throughout C3.
20:30 UT W Limb Very faint and diffuse front that quickly fades.
2006/01/25 (Wednesday)
01:31 UT N Pole Very narrow fan-like front (jet-like) developing
slightly toward NNW.
02:06 - 09:30 UT Temporary DSN Data Gap.
Last C2 image available by the time of writing: 12:55 UT.
