LASCO Activity Report for
December 14, 2005 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

KEYHOLE Operations:
   Dec 3 - Dec 20 (26 m)
   Dec 6 - Dec 17 (34 m)

Spacecraft Maneuvers on December 15: Station keeping (SK), Momentum
Management (MM), and 180 deg Roll. Therefore:

- On Wednesday Dec 14, 22:00 UT: Lasco C2 and C3 close doors for maneuver.

- On Friday Dec 16, 22:00 UT recover C2 and C3, open doors and resume keyhole
observations: C2 @ 12 min cadence, C3 @ 30 min cadence, daily orange/blue
filter fieldings, and daily orange filter pB sets.

EIT will end bakeout Sunday Dec 18 (started on Dec 02 @ ~ 18:12 UT) from
plan at 10:00 UT. The post cal mini set will be taken on the following
pass 16:15-22:55 UT. Imaging will resume ~21:00 UT.

2005/12/12 (Monday)

N West	Gusty outflow along the streamer all along the day.

00:12 UT EN East	Slow development of a system of loops preceded by a
diffuse and very faint front. It develops as a ballon-
type CME, well discerned in C3.

03:00 UT W Limb	Faint and small elongated loop-like front. Another one
at 04:36 UT. They both apparently fade throughout C2.

16:12 UT S West	Bright loop front, preceded by some gusty outflow in
the form of small ragged fronts. It superposes in the
line of sight (at the beginning) with the slow
development of a system of loops.

21:12 UT S East	Diffuse and faint small loop front followed by a faint
			loop front at 21:48 UT.

2005/12/13 (Tuesday)

N West	Gusty outflow along the streamer all along the day.

04:00 UT WN West	Curved fan-like front.

06:48 UT W Limb	Jet-like front, slightly curved toward S.

12:36 UT W Limb	Slow development of a loop front with inner core (most
likely prominence material). A diffuse brightening
(top of the loop) can be seen above the limb since
earlier (starting at ~ 12:00 UT).

15:12 UT WN West	A very narrow curved loop front (slightly curved toward
			S) can be seen developing to N of previous event.

15:24 UT WS West	Ragged front preceded by a very diffuse and faint
front develops to S of event reported to start at
			12:36 UT.

19:36 - 24:00 UT	Temporary DSN Data gap (C2 time).

2005/12/14 (Wednesday)

00:00 - 08:48 UT	Temporary DSN Data gap (C2 time).

08:48 UT S West	Elongated loop front along streamer already under
			development after data gap.

Last C2 image available by the time of writing: 10:12 UT.
