LASCO Activity Report for
March 17, 2005 SOHO Science Daily Meeting
Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg
Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.
Points Of Interest
- On 2005/03/11 @ 15:00 UT (Friday) SOHO changed to Submode 5.
- 34 m Telemetry Keyhole began on 2005/03/10 (until 03/24).
- 26 m Telemetry Keyhole began on 2005/03/02 (until 04/01).
- Upcoming Maneuvers: The S/C roll back to 0 degrees is set for March 22.
LASCO will be safing for the roll, and station keep maneuvers Monday
March 21 at 20:00 UT closing doors. LASCO will open and resume ops
Thursday March 24 15:00 UT.
- During the keyhole LASCO will image at an improved cadence of C2 @ 12
minutes and C3 @30 minute cadences. This includes daily orange filter pB
sequence and flat field orange/blue images. Using the keyhole recording
scheme most all LASCO data will be recovered.
- EIT CCD Bakeout: 2005/03/11 (Friday) - 2005/03/31 (Thursday).
- Venus entered the C3 FOV from the right on 2005/02/26
(by the end of the day).
2005/03/16 (Wednesday)
00:48 - 11:36 UT Temporary DSN Data Gap.
W Limb Gusty outflow after the data gap all along the rest
of the day.
17:48 UT S East Very faint ragged loop front in the gusty outflow that
followed the 3-part structure CME event on previous
day. Barely visible in C3.
2005/03/17 (Thursday)
00:48 UT W Limb Ragged and diffuse front preceded by a couple of not-
well-defined fronts late on previous day. They all
fade close to the inner edge of C3. By the time, the
slow development of a system of loops can be seen
superposed in the LOS.
07:12 UT W Limb Ragged front.
07:36 - 13:36 UT Temporary DSN Data Gap.
