LASCO Activity Report for
October 25, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.

Points Of Interest

2004/10/22 (Friday)

02:30 UT N East	Couple of bright and narrow structures followed at
04:30 UT by a ragged loop front. Very faint in C3.
GOES recorded a B6.8 X-ray flare from NOAA AR 0687
(N09E47) between 01:46 - 01:58 UT with peak emission
at 01:53 UT.

08:30 UT N East 'Explosive', bright, and wide loop front. Trailing
material and gusty outflow. A discernible small front
at ~19:54 UT. Faint extensions on SE. GOES recorded a
M2.1 X-ray flare from NOAA AR 0687 (N11E44) between
07:52 - 08:16 UT with peak emission at 08:11 UT.

09:30 UT WS West Very faint and diffuse front extending up to above
the W limb. Not discernible in C3.

2004/10/23 (Saturday)

01:31 UT N East	Very narrow and bright fast loop front. A couple more
afterward. GOES recorded a C5.1 X-ray flare late on
previous day from NOAA AR 0687 (N15E44) between 22:09 -
22:16 UT with peak emission at 22:13 UT, and a B8.0
X-ray flare from the same AR (N13E42) between 00:59 -
01:08 UT with peak emission at 01:03 UT.

05:54 UT E Limb Bright loop front, cavity and inner twisted core.
Typical 3-part structure CME.

16:06 UT EN East Narrow jet-like front followed at 17:54 UT by a ragged
loop front with faint extension on NE and E. GOES
recorded a C9.9 X-ray flare form NOAA AR 0687 (N11E30)
between 16:22 - 17:08 UT wuth peak emission at 16:54 UT.

2004/10/24 (Sunday)

00:06 UT N West	Spray-like front. It fades close to the inner edge of C3.

03:30 UT N East Very diffuse loop front just appearing. A couple of
diffuse jet-like fronts precede its development: one
on NNW and the other one 180 deg apart, on SSE. The
whole event is barely visible in C3. GOES recorded
several C-class X-ray flares by the time:
- a C1.6 (N13E27) X-ray flare between 01:28 - 01:44 UT
with peak emission at 01:42 UT.
    - a C1.9 (N14E30) X-ray flare between 02:23 - 02:30 UT
with peak emission at 02:27 UT.
- a C1.7 (N11E19) X-ray flare between 02:54 - 03:13 UT
with peak emission at 03:03 UT.

11:54 UT NN West Spray-like front. It fades close to the inner edge of C3.

21:30 UT N East Ragged loop front, with a diffuse front (shock?) ahead
to N. GOES recorded an M2.3 X-ray flare from NOAA AR 0687
(N10E15) between 20:17 - 20:35 UT with peak emission at
20:28 UT.

2004/10/25 (Monday)

00:54 UT E Limb	Ragged and not well defined front.
