LASCO Activity Report for
August 31, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

2004/08/30 (Monday)

03:54 UT W Limb	Ragged loop front that fades close to the inner edge of
C3. By 05:54 UT another ragged loop front follows. By
07:31 UT, a narrow and faster loop front follows to N.
Another (fainter) ragged front at 09:06 UT (it quickly
fades). Gusty emission afterward. GOES recorded a C2.4
			X-ray flare from NOAA AR 10663 (N06W66) between 03:04 -
03:18 UT with peak emission at 03:11 UT. And several
B-class flares from the same active region between
			09:54 - 15:04 UT (peak emissions at 10:00, 14:03, 14:52,
			and 15:02 UT).

16:54 UT W Limb	Another ragged loop front that fades throughout C3.
Event most likely related to activity on NOAA AR 10663.

	18:06 - 19:55 UT LASCO Data gap (C2 time).

20:54 UT W Limb	Another ragged loop front followed at 21:54 and 23:30 UT
by a couple of similar ragged fronts. They all fade
throughout C3. Events most likely associated with
activity on NOAA AR 10663. Please also note that GOES
			recorded a C1.0 X-ray flare from NOAA AR 10663 (N04W78)
between 18:06 - 18:29 UT with peak emission at 18:18 UT
(possible C2 event associated to the X-ray event likely
			missed in the data gap).

23:06 UT NN East	Very faint and diffuse asymmetric front. Barely visible
			in C3.

2004/08/31 (Tuesday)

01:31 UT W Limb	Another ragged loop front. GOES recorded a B9.3 X-ray
			flare from NOAA AR 10663 (N03W83) between 00:40 -
00:52 UT with peak emission at 00:46 UT.

05:54 UT W Limb	Bright loop front with structured interior. GOES
recorded an M1.4 X-ray flare from NOAA AR 10663
			(N06W82) between 05:24 - 05:47 UT with peak emission
			at 05:38 UT.

08:00 - 15:45 UT	Temporary DSN Data Gap.
