LASCO Activity Report for
August 16, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

2004/08/13 (Friday)

WN West	(*) The ragged structure reported at 12:06 UT on the
previous day continues its slow development.

00:30 UT WN West	Fast ragged loop front superposed in the LOS with
previous event. It fades throughout C3.

00:54 UT N Pole	Jet-like front.

02:54 UT S Pole	More faint curved structures expanding toward SW.

	15:30 - 18:48 UT	LASCO-C2 Data Gap.

19:36 UT SS West	Bright and narrow ragged loop front. Fainter loop-like
extensions over the S Pole. The narrow loop seems to
'drag' the extensions during its development.
Development of loop-like structures continues well
into next day all above the SW Limb.

20:30 UT WN West	Diffuse and elongated loop front followed at 22:30 UT
by another not well defined front later expanding
slightly toward N, expansion most likely due to
event at 01:54 UT on next day. Meanwhile, the ragged
structure (*) continues its slow development.

2004/08/14 (Saturday)

01:54 UT W Limb	Faint expanding loop structure becomes discernible,
followed by a couple of similar expanding structures
at 03:54 UT and 05:54 UT.

	02:30 - 03:54 UT	Data Gap.

11:54 UT N East	Jet like front. It fades throughout C2.

19:54 UT S West	System of wide loop fronts, most likely related to
			M-class X-ray activity on NOAA AR 10656.

2004/08/15 (Sunday)

02:30 UT S West	Another (continuation of the previous one?) system of
loop fronts develops. In fact, there is a kind of
continuous development of expanding loop-like fronts
all along the day, most likely associated with M-class
X-ray activity on NOAA AR 10656.

06:06 UT N West	Faint loop front.

09:30 UT W Limb	Faint narrow loop front already close to the end of C2
FOV when discernible. It fades throughout C3.

19:54 UT S West	Faint and diffuse elongated front. It fades throughout
			C3.

2004/08/16 (Monday)

00:30 UT S West	Relatively narrow loop-like feature with a faint and
diffuse expanding (and wider) loop front ahead. By
06:30 UT becomes discernible an inner structure
in the form of a narrower loop front with a bright top.

06:06 UT ES East	Faint and small loop front that quickly fades.

12:30 UT WN West	Bright loop front.
