LASCO Activity Report for
August 13, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting
Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg
Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.
Points Of Interest
2004/08/12 (Thursday)
S Pole System of faint expanding loops continue. Some rather
well discerned fronts reported below. Morphology
observed is most likely related to activity on NOAA AR
0656.
S East Gusty outflow.
04:54 UT NN East Faint and diffuse elongated loop front followed at
06:30 UT by a very narrow (jet-like) loop front. They
fade throughout C2.
06:54 UT SS West Faint loop front becomes discernible. It is followed
at 08:30 UT by another one at around the PA of the
leg on the S Pole. This second loop fades throughout C2;
the other one fades throughout C3.
12:06 UT WN West Very slow development of a ragged and structured feature.
Difficult to give an exact time of first appearance.
11:54 UT E Limb Blob like front becomes visible. It fades throughout C3.
Infalling material.
12:30 UT SS East A faint and slow expanding loop front similar to that
one at 06:54 UT starts to be visible. By 14:54 UT is
well discerned. It fades throughout C3.
14:54 UT S West Very faint and not well defined expanding front becomes
discernible.
16:30 UT SS West Initially faint front develops into curved structures
expanding toward SW. It seems to follow the evolution
of the event reported to start at 12:30 UT.
17:30 UT NN East Kind-of long jet followed by a faint narrow fan-like
front at ~ 20:30 UT.
18:30 UT N Pole Jet-like front that quickly fades developing slightly
toward NNW.
18:54 UT NN East Another Jet-like front that quickly fades, to N of
event reported to start at 17:30 UT.
20:30 UT SS West Another faint expanding front.
2004/08/13 (Friday)
WN West The ragged structure reported at 12:06 UT on the
previous day continues its slow development.
00:30 UT WN West Fast ragged loop front superposed in the LOS with
previous event.
00:54 UT N Pole Jet-like front.
02:54 UT S Pole More faint curved structures expanding toward SW.
