LASCO Activity Report for
August 09, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

2004/08/06 (Friday)

00:54 UT E Limb	Elongated and extremely faint expanding feature.

09:54 UT W Limb	Slow development of a loop front, with a diffuse
helmet-shaped front ahead of it. By 20:30 UT (C2 time)
it is clearly seen as a well developed flux-rope CME
(LE at the end of the C2 FOV). Twisted trailing material.
Much gusty outflow well into next day.

15:06 UT E Limb	Elongated and faint loop front developing slightly
			toward ENE.

2004/08/07 (Saturday)

05:30 UT N East	Bright ragged loop front with structured interior and
twisted trailing material. Gusty outflow well into
			next day.

15:30 UT W Limb	In the gusty outflow, faint elongated loop front.

2004/08/08 (Sunday)

	  W Limb	Gusty outflow continues.

08:54 UT W Limb	Ragged loop front developing jointly with following
event. EIT Fe XII running diference images show
an extremely faint ejection a little bit to N of NOAA
AR 0655 starting at around 05:48 UT.

08:54 UT HALO Bright and wide loop front above the E Limb with
extensions surrounding completely the C2 occultor
(fainter above the NW Limb). A fainter front can be
discerned a little bit ahead of the bright loop front
above the E limb. The event is first seen in C3 at
09:18 UT appearing above the E Limb. Faint extensions
can be discerned by the time surrounding the C3 occutor
completely. EIT Fe XII running difference images show
the development of a backsided CME above the ENE Limb
			between ~ 08:24 - 10:38 UT. Faint intensity disturbance
travelling to S, above the limb. No significant X-ray
			activity by the time.

09:54 UT S West	In the HALO aftermath, a wide ragged loop front can be
discerned, one leg (the brighter one) on SE. A narrower
one follows on SW at 10:34 UT.

12:30 UT EN East	Loop front that quickly fades. Followed by another
loop front at ~ 14:54 UT. By the time this second
front fades (~ 17:54 UT) another loop front becomes
visible, already at the end of the C2 FOV. This last one
			fades throughout C3.

16:06 UT SS West	Jet-like front that quickly fades.

21:54 UT S East	Ragged and not well defined loop front with structured
			interior.

22:30 UT E Limb	Faint loop front developing toward ESE.

2004/08/09 (Monday)

00:30 UT S East	Curved feature expanding towards S.

03:30 UT S East	Ragged loop front followed at ~ 05:30 UT by another one.

05:06 UT E Limb	Faint expanding loop front. Another one can be guessed
			ahead of it.

06:30 UT WN West	Fast spray-like front followed at 09:06 UT by an
			elongated and expanding loop front.
