LASCO Activity Report for
July 30, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting
Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg
Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.
Points Of Interest
2004/07/29 (Thursday)
06:54 UT S West Bright elongated loop front. GOES recorded a C1.1 X-ray
flare on NOAA AR 0652 (N05W83) between 06:22 - 06:26 UT
with peak emission at 06:26 UT.
10:54 UT WS West Ragged front later surpassed by next event.
11:54 UT WS West Very bright and wide loop front with bright inner core.
Faint extensions develop on SE and NW (shock?). No
X-ray flare reported by that time. EIT Fe XII shows
a filament eruption between 11:12 - 11:48 UT right
above the W Limb nearby AR 0652. Material is seen to
be pushed toward S. Coming back to C2, starting
at 16:06, expansion of trailing features and much
gusty outflow that last until well into next day. GOES
reported a C2.8 X-ray flare on NOAA AR 0652 (N03W86)
between 16:28 - 16:38 UT with peak emission at 16:33 UT.
Mean plane-of-sky speed (based on C3 data) at PA ~250
was ~ 1320 km/sec showing practically no acceleration.
14:30 UT E Limb Extremely faint (barely visible at the beginning) front
slowly develops (the core of previous event is already
out of C2 FOV). By 16:30 UT the front seems to span
from the NW limb to the S Pole, though it is difficult
to say much due to the trailing material of previous
event superposed in the line of sight on NW.
2004/07/30(Friday)
00:30 UT S West Kind of half loop front (loop seen almost edge on?) in
the gusty outflow..
08:30 UT EN East Faint and narrow expanding loop front.
09:30 UT N Pole Loop front starts developing.
