LASCO Activity Report for
July 06, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

SOHO is back now from the telemetry keyhole, again with high rate
telemetry.

After bakeout, EIT synoptic observation program resumed on 2004/07/04
(Sunday) at ~ 18:30 UT.

SATURN entered the C3 FOV (from the left) on 2004/06/29 (Tuesday).
Now approaching the C3 occultor, from the left.

2004/07/02 (Friday)

05:00 UT E Limb	Wide and diffuse loop front that develops spanning
all the way from N to S Pole, surrounds a well defined
			loop front (PA ~ 078 - 148) and a ragged loop front
			(PA ~ 050 - 083) (measurements on C2 at 06:00 UT).

05:24 UT N Pole	An extremely faint and diffuse front starting over the
N Pole seems to cover the C2 occultor later during
its evolution. It is difficult to discern whether it
is related to the previous event. No significant X-ray
			events reported by the time.

05:48 UT S West	Faint and diffuse ragged loop front.

12:24 UT E Limb	Fairly faint and ragged loop front preceded at 08:24
and 09:36 UT by a couple of blob-like fronts.

14:00 UT S East	Diffuse spray front preceding ragged asymmetric loop
			front at ~ 15:12 UT.

17:24 UT S West	Ragged loop front.

20:00 UT W Limb	Elongated and ragged loop front developing slightly
toward WNW precedes wide ragged and diffuse loop front
			at ~ 21:24 UT.

2004/07/03 (Saturday)

05:36 UT E Limb	Spray-like front. Apparently twisted trailing material.

10:36 UT ES East	Another spray-like front.

	16:24 - 18:24 UT	Telemetry Data Gap.

2004/07/04 (Sunday)

03:36 UT E Limb	Fairly faint and diffuse and ragged loop developing
slightly toward ENE. It fades throughout C2. By 05:12 UT
another ragged loop front, slightly wider follows, also
			fading throughout C2.

06:36 UT S East	Very faint and narrow loop front, preceding kind of
asymmetric loop front that fades throughout C3.

	15:00 - 18:36 UT	Telemetry Data Gap.

20:06 UT W Limb	Very faint and diffuse loop front that quickly fades.

2004/07/05 (Monday)

03:30 UT N West	Elongated and ragged loop front.

07:32 UT N Pole	Kind of 'circular' loop front accompanied by lot of
gusty outflow above the NE Limb.

18:54 UT S West	Spray-like front.

19:31 UT S East	Slow evolution of system of loops.

23:06 UT HALO Very impressive 'full' HALO CME. First seen in C3 at
23:18 UT above SSW. EIT Fe XII shows no signatures of
the event on the disk. Likewise, no significant X-ray
activity reported by the time. Therefore, the event was
			most probably backsided.

2004/07/06 (Tuesday)

04:30 UT EN East	Kind of 'jet' preceding ragged spray-like front
slightly to N in the trailing material of the Halo event.

05:30 UT S West	Diffuse and wide loop front in the trailing material
of the Halo event developing toward SSW.

10:06 UT N West	Spray-like front.
