LASCO Activity Report for
June 30, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting
Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg
Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.
Points Of Interest
SATURN entered the C3 FOV (from the left) on 2004/06/29 (Tuesday).
SOHO is now in a telemetry keyhole (2004/06/16 - 2004/07/03). LASCO data
will consist of typically two (occasionally three) continuous periods of
real-time data per day.
EIT 195 CME watch was interrupted on 2004/06/15 (Tuesday) at 15:00 UT
for EIT CCD bakeout calibrations. EIT CCD bakeout started on 2004/06/15
at ~ 20:00 UT. EIT CCD bakeout until 2004/07/04 (Sunday).
LASCO C2 and C3 will be in high cadence during the rest of the week:
C2 at a 12 minute cadence, C3 at the 30 minute cadence.
2004/06/25 (Friday)
Mostly quiet Sun. No visible activity in C2 FOV.
00:36 - 04:12 UT Telemetry Data Gap.
10:24 - 13:24 UT Telemetry Data Gap.
17:48 - 21:12 UT Telemetry Data Gap.
2004/06/26 (Saturday)
05:48 UT WS West Diffuse and elongated spray front. By that time, the
very slow development of a system of loops can be
discerned superposed in the LOS with the (faster) spray.
05:48 UT E Limb Loop front with structured inner part developing
slightly toward ENE.
08:24 UT E Limb Ragged front partly superimposed in the LOS with
previous event, developing slightly toward ESE. Gusty
outflow.
13:48 UT W Limb Small loop front. By that time, an slightly fainter and
more diffuse front develops towards WSW. By 14:00 UT
another similar front develops toward WNW.
15:00 UT ES East Ragged and elongated loop front.
21:12 - 23:12 UT Telemetry Data Gap.
23:12 UT W Limb Ragged loop front already under development, and
apparently twisted trailing material.
2004/06/27 (Sunday)
00:00 UT W Limb Loop front in the trailing material of previous event.
02:24 UT W Limb Small ragged front slightly to S of previous event.
07:24 UT WN West Small loop front that fades throughout C2.
09:12 UT N West Bright loop front with twisted inner core.
09:24 UT S East Faint and diffuse loop front.
11:36 - 13:24 UT Telemetry Data Gap.
13:36 UT W Limb Small but elongated loop front developing slightly
toward WSW followed at 15:36 UT by a narrow and ragged
loop front.
18:36 - 22:36 UT Telemetry Data Gap.
2004/06/28 (Monday)
01:24 UT W Limb Bright loop front. Faint extensions to N and S (shock?).
02:12 - 07:00 UT Telemetry Data Gap.
08:24 - 13:36 UT Telemetry Data Gap.
16:12 - 23:36 UT Telemetry Data Gap.
2004/06/29 (Tuesday)
02:48 - 12:24 UT Telemetry Data Gap.
13:12 - 12:24 UT Telemetry Data Gap.
16:00 UT ES East Elongated spray-like front.
17:48 UT N West Wide and asymmetric loop fronts.
22:12 - 24:00 UT Telemetry Data Gap.
2004/06/30 (Wednesday)
00:00 - 05:24 UT Telemetry Data Gap.
06:00 UT W Limb Small ragged loop front.
07:24 - 13:36 UT Telemetry Data Gap.
