LASCO Activity Report for
June 17, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

SOHO Telemetry Submode will change back to Submode 6 on 2004/06/17
(Thursday) at 14:45 UT. Last SUMER observation on Thursday 17 at
~ 12:00 UT. SUMER will close then the door at 14:45 UT.

Upcoming Operations:
16 Jun - 3 Jul (Keyhole operations)
22 Jun (Stationkeeping/180 deg Roll Maneuver)

LASCO C2 and C3 will be in high cadence during the rest of the week:
C2 at a 12 minute cadence, C3 at the 30 minute cadence.

EIT 195 CME watch was interrupted on 2004/06/15 (Tuesday) at 15:00 UT
for EIT CCD bakeout calibrations. EIT CCD bakeout started on 2004/06/15
at ~ 20:00 UT. EIT CCD bakeout until 2004/07/04 (Sunday).

MERCURY entered the C3 FOV (from the right) on 2004/06/12 (Saturday).

SOHO Telemetry Submode changed to Submode 5 on 2004/04/13 at 16:00 UT
(SUMER began observing on 2004/04/14). SUMER campaign runs until 2004/06/17.
In other words, LASCO synoptic observation plan cadence remains the same
but the EIT CME watch images will be reduced to half-resolution (512x512)
during that period.

2004/06/16 (Wednesday)

04:36 UT E Limb	Bright loop front with trailing material. Gusty outflow
afterward on NE. Couple of faint ragged fronts along the
			day.

11:48 UT S West	Very faint loop front. It fades throughout C3.

13:24 UT N East	Extremely faint ragged loop front that quickly fades.

13:36 UT WN West	Elongated structure preceding the very slow development
of a faint and apparently circular and twisted
			structure.

19:36 UT EN East	Faint and small 'half-loop' front. It fades throughout
			C2.

2004/06/17 (Thursday)

02:00 UT N East	Small loop front followed at 03:12 UT (and quickly
surpassed) by a spray-like front. They both fade
			throughout C3.

03:12 UT E Limb	Small blob-like front.

08:05 - 14:00 UT Temporary DSN data Gap.

16:55 - 23:40 UT	Temporary DSN Data Gap.
