LASCO Activity Report for
May 27, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting
Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg
Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.
Points Of Interest
SOHO Telemetry Submode changed to Submode 5 on 2004/04/13 at 16:00 UT
(SUMER began observing on 2004/04/14). SUMER campaign runs until 2004/06/17.
In other words, LASCO synoptic observation plan cadence remains the same
but the EIT CME watch images will be reduced to half-resolution (512x512)
during that period.
2004/05/26 (Wednesday)
00:06 UT N West The slow development of the system of loops along
the streamer reported to start at 19:50 UT on previous
day continues, becoming a streamer blowout late in
the day (difficult to determine exactly when). In
particular, by ~ 15:26 UT the development of an
asymmetric loop front with faint extensions being
pushed toward the N Pole can be seen. It is clearly
seen in C3 FOV by 19:42 UT. Some trailing material.
11:00 - 12:30 UT LASCO Data Gap due to ICAL01 (Intercalibration
for EIT with CDS/SUMER).
12:50 UT S West Kind of ragged 'half-loop' (southern leg barely visible)
front preceded by a fainter and diffuse front at
10:50 UT. Several other faint 'half-loop' fronts follow.
They fade throughout C3.
2004/05/27 (Thursday)
01:50 UT N West In the trailing material of event reported to start at
15:26 UT on previous day (see entry at 00:06 UT),
structured feature and trailing material. Infalling
material by 08:27 UT, starting at ~ 3.7 solar radii
(PA 303).
