LASCO Activity Report for
May 12, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting
Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg
Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.
Points Of Interest
SOHO Telemetry Submode changed to Submode 5 on 2004/04/13 at 16:00 UT
(SUMER began observing on 2004/04/14). SUMER campaign runs until 2004/06/17.
In other words, LASCO synoptic observation plan cadence remains the same
but the EIT CME watch images will be reduced to half-resolution (512x512)
during that period.
2004/05/11 (Tuesday)
N East Gusty outflow.
00:06 UT WS West Another bright ragged loop front. The event develops
on the W limb as a twisted (and 'round') structure,
and on the SW with a ragged structure. Gusty outflow
follows, all along the day.
10:26 UT S East Bright loop front, brighter to S
11:50 UT W Limb Faint fan-like front that fades close to the inner edge
of C3. It is followed by a couple of similar fronts
(though narrower). In particular at: 15:26, 16:50, and
20:50 UT
20:50 UT N East Wide ragged loop front that fades throughout C3. In C2,
the inner part shows two loop-like structures, one
developing toward E, the other one toward N. At 23:50 UT
an elongated loop front is seen to develop on E Limb.
Difficult to discern whether is part of the same event
or is an independent event.
2004/05/12 (Wednesday)
00:06 UT W Limb Bright spray-like front brighter to S. It fades
throughout C3.
03:50 - 09:35 UT Temporary DSN Data Gap.
