LASCO Activity Report for
April 16, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting
Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg
Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.
Points Of Interest
Comet C/2004 F4 (Bradfield) is now visible in the C3 field of view.
A special observing campaign is in progress (2004/04/16 - 2004/04/19).
Synoptic observations will be modified during this period.
SOHO Telemetry Submode changed to Submode 5 on 2004/04/13 at 16:00 UT
(SUMER began observing on 2004/04/14). SUMER campaign runs until 2004/06/17.
In other words, LASCO synoptic observation plan cadence remains the same
but the EIT CME watch images will be reduced to half-resolution (512x512).
2004/04/15
N East Gusty outflow all along the day.
03:26 UT S West Spray-like front. It fades throughout C3.
08:06 UT S West Bright narrow ragged front along streamer, slightly to
S of previous event. It fades throughout C3.
08:06 UT N West Loop front that quickly fades. At 08:26 UT a bright
ragged front appears at the PA of the northern leg of
the loop, moving much faster. It also fades througout C3.
11:06 UT N East Very ragged front in the gusty outflow, preceded at
~07:27 UT by an elongated ragged front barely
discernible from the gusty outflow.
17:26 UT W Limb Ragged front and apparently twisted trailing structure
developing slightly toward NE.
18:06 UT N Pole Very faint diffuse loop front that quickly fades.
20:06 UT E Limb Fairly faint and diffuse loop front, that fades close to
the inner edge of C3. A fainter one developing toward
SE can be distinguished since 20:50 UT. It fades by the
end of C2 FOV.
21:18 UT Comet Bradfield (C/2004 F4) first appears in
C3 FOV, coming in from S (center bottom of the
image).
2004/04/16
05:42 - 11:42 UT Temporary DSN Data Gap.
