LASCO Activity Report for
April 14, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

SOHO Telemetry Submode change to Submode 5 on 2004/04/13 at 16:00 UT
(SUMER begins observing on 2004/04/14). SUMER campaign runs until 2004/06/17.
In other words, LASCO synoptic observation plan cadence remains the same
but the EIT CME watch images will be reduced to half-resolution (512x512).

2004/04/13

S West	Gusty outflow all day long.

00:30 UT N West	Slow development of structured (twisted) feature since
late on previous day. Difficult to give an exact time
of first appearance. Gusty outflow slightly to N.

05:54 UT N East	Fairly bright loop front.

10:54 UT S East	Ragged and elongated loop front. It fades throughout C3.

11:30 UT S West	Ragged spray-like front slightly to N of gusty outflow.
			It fades throughout C3.

21:26 UT S West	Wide ragged loop front. EIT Fe XII shows the eruption
of a fine filament (located to SE of NOAA AR 0588)
starting at around 19:25 UT, which could be related to
the CME seen in C2. Afterward, a CME signature
traveling toward SW can be seen in EIT Fe XII running
difference images. They also show material comimg out
from NOAA AR 0588 (by the time at the limb) starting
at around 02:00 UT on next day.

2004/04/14

00:26 UT N East	Slow development of system of loops along the streamer.
Difficult to give an exact time of first appearance.
By ~ 07:27 UT an asymmetric loop front starts developing
(though the starting time is again very difficult to
determine). By 11:50 UT is clearly seen, one leg along
the streamer, the other on the NW limb.

01:27 UT S East	Asymetric ragged loop front, at PA that matches that of
the leg on SSE of the wide ragged loop front reported to
start at 21:26 UT on previous day. It is preceded by a
similar front (though smaller) at ~22:26 UT on previous
			day. Twisted trailing material.

05:26 UT S East	Spray-like front slightly to N of previous event.
