LASCO Activity Report for
April 01, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting
Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg
Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.
Points Of Interest
SOHO is now in a telemetry keyhole (2004/03/19 - 2004/04/04). LASCO data
will consist of typically two (occasionally three) continuous periods of
real-time data per day.
Beginning at 00:00 UT on March 18, 2004 EIT will be in CCD bakeout mode;
No EIT images until April 5, 2004.
2004/03/31
20:57 UT First C2 image after doors reopen
following 2004/03/30 maneuvers.
21:03 UT First C3 image after doors reopen
following 2004/03/30 maneuvers.
21:48 UT N East Ragged front already close to the outer edge of C2 FOV.
21:48 UT N Pole Ragged front developing towards NE. Faint extension
over the N Pole to NW. As the event develops, a long
and thin feature is seen to be pushed toward NE.
21:53 UT HALO Full halo CME already in progress. Time of C3. GOES
reports several C-class X ray flares on NOAA AR 10582
during the day. In particular, a C2.8 X ray flare
between 15:07 and 15:17 UT (N12W11), and a C7.4 X-ray
flare between 20:02 and 20:10 UT with intensity peak
at 20:08 UT (N16W10). Therefore, the halo CME could
be cataloged as most probably frontsided.
