LASCO Activity Report for
March 12, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

2004/03/11

	  S East Much outflow.

07:31 UT N East	Diffuse and very faint front extending all over the
N Pole up to the NW limb showing a very slow
development. It is first seen in C3 at 16:18 UT. No
likely related signatures visible in EIT Fe XII images.

11:06 UT W Limb	Small ragged front jointly with a jet-like front. They
			fade throughout C2.

17:06 UT S East	Bright ragged loop front and trailing material
(difficult to give precisely the time of first
appearance). At 19:42 UT is first seen in C3, moving
much faster than the event reported to start at
07:31 UT. Both events together give the appearance of
a 'partial' halo CME. Gusty outflow.

19:31 UT W Limb	Extremely faint front barely visible in C2. EIT Fe XII
running difference images show CME coming from just
behind the W Limb at around 19:13 UT. An extremely
narrow ragged front slightly to S developing toward SW
appears in C2 FOV at 20:06 UT.

20:30 UT N Pole	Faint and wide loop front. At around 00:30 UT on next
day at the PA of its leg on the NE limb, a faint
			asymmetric loop front develops.

2004/03/12

00:30 UT N West	Extremely faint diffuse front moving faster that a
bright ragged front following at ~ 01:31 UT. Due to
the superposition of both events on the line of sight,
it is difficult to give an accurate time of first
appearance for the second event. EIT HE II images show
the eruption of a a huge prominence coming out from
behind the NW limb (first seen at 19:19 UT on previous
day, next image at 01:19 UT). Huge twisted structure
			after data gap.

06:50 - 11:40 UT	Temporary DSN Data Gap
