LASCO Activity Report for
February 2, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

2004/01/30

00:06 UT S West	Bright loop front with cavity and core preceded by
a very faint asymmetric ragged front. The LE of the
loop front has a mean plane-of-sky speed of about
			~450 km/sec (based on C3 data, at PA ~ 248). For more
accuracy, the HT plot shows slight acceleration
(speed of ~350 km/s close to the inner edge,
			~ 500 km/sec at ~ 22 solar radii). Filament eruption
observed on the SW quadrant of EIT/Fe XII images
starting at ~ 22:36 UT on previous day.

04:30 UT S West	Another bright loop front with cavity and twisted core
at PA coincident with that of southern leg of previous
event. Prominence eruption seen in EIT Fe XII above SW
			limb starting ~ 02:12 UT.

06:06 UT E Limb	Fairly faint loop front. It fades throughout C2.

11:54 UT S West	Small and fast ragged front behind prominence at
04:30 UT. At 13:54 UT the feature shows a clear
inverted 'boomerang-like' shape. It fades throughout
C3. Gusty outflow well into next days.

12:54 UT N East	Faint narrow ragged front.

13:31 UT N West Faint jet-like front. It fades throughout C2.

18:30 UT N East Very slow 'helmet-like' loops' system develops along
			streamer. Infalling material to N.

20:30 UT E Limb	Very faint loop front. It fades close to the inner
			edge of C3 fov.

2004/01/31

09:30 UT N West	Faint ragged front. It fades throughout C2.

10:34 UT S East	Faint ragged front followed by twisted material.

18:06 UT E Limb	Jet-like front developing toward S, slightly bent to N.
Asymmetric faint ragged loop front develops in parallel
to S, at PA of event at 10:34 UT, most likely part
			of that event.

2004/02/01

07:31 UT W Limb	Spray-like front. It fades throughout C2.

08:30 UT E Limb	Faint loop front develops. Infalling material is seen
at the time close to the inner edge of C2. A similar
front (fainter) develops above NE limb. They both fade
			throughout C3.

16:06 UT N East	Spray-like front. It fades close to the inner edge of
			C3.

19:31 UT W Limb	Ragged front developing slightly to N. It fades close
to the inner edge of C3.

20:30 UT S East	Fan-like front. It fades throughout C2. It is followed
at 23:06 UT by a faint asymmetric loop front much
brighter to N that also fades throughout C2.

22:30 UT N East	Extremely faint loop front. Difficult to determine time
			of first appearance.

2004/02/02

01:54 UT S East	Infalling material starting close to the outer edge of
			C2 (PA ~111).

04:30 UT N East	Bright loop front with strong cavity and trailing
material, at PA of that of the southern loop's leg of
event at 22:30 on previous day. At 08:06 material is
seen to fall down starting at ~2.80 solar radii, and
at 09:54 a ragged front develops.
