LASCO Activity Report for
January 30, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

2004/01/29

04:54 UT E Limb	Fast narrow ragged loop front brightest to N that
surpasses a slow rising loop front. Barely visible
			in C3.

05:54 UT S East	Fairly faint twisted (elongated) material.

05:54 UT S West Extremely faint ragged spray front. It fades throughout
			C2.

16:06 UT N East Slow rising loops' system ('helmet-like') along
			streamer.

17:54 UT E Limb	Bright 'jet-like' feature, though following a slightly
curved path. It fades throughout C2. Gusty outflow.

23:54 UT S East	Ragged loop front.

23:54 UT N East	Very faint ragged and elongated loop front to S of
streamer already at 5.6 solar radii.

2004/01/30

00:06 UT S West	Bright loop front with cavity and core preceded by
a very faint asymmetric ragged front. The LE of the
loop front has a mean plane-of-sky speed of about
			~450 km/sec (based on C3 data, at PA ~ 248). For more
accuracy, the HT plot shows slight acceleration
(speed of ~350 km/s close to the inner edge,
			~ 500 km/sec at ~ 22 solar radii). Filament eruption
observed on the SW quadrant of EIT/Fe XII images
starting at ~ 22:36 UT on previous day.

04:30 UT S West	Another bright loop front with cavity and twisted core
at PA coincident with that of southern leg of previous
event. Prominence eruption seen in EIT Fe XII above SW
			limb starting ~ 02:12 UT.

06:06 UT E Limb	Fairly faint loop front. It fades throughout C2.
