LASCO Activity Report for
January 28, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

2004/01/27

06:54 UT N West	Very faint narrow spray-like front. It fades throughout
			C2.

07:31 UT N Pole	Very faint narrow ragged loop front and twisted
trailing material preceded by a small and faint ragged
front from which it is difficult to determine the time
of first appearance in C2 (in C3: 05:42 UT).

13:31 UT S West	Narrow spray-like front followed by several others at
			14:54, 16:06, 16:54, and 18:54 UT slightly N of
streamer. They all fade close to the inner edge of C3
			fov.

17:54 UT S East Extremely faint spray-like front, slightly S of next
			event. Not discernible in C3.

20:30 UT E Limb	Spray front preceding ragged loop front with twisted
trailing material and followed by several very narrow
spray-like fronts at PA coincident with that of the
southern leg of the event starting at 04:06 UT on
			next day.

2004/01/28

00:30 UT S West	An initially very slow loop front followed by
twisted inner core (flux rope-like) develops in
'streamer blowout'. At 12:18 UT (LE at ~15 solar radii)
the plane-of-sky speed of the LE reaches ~ 450 km/s.

07:31 UT S Pole	Faint loop front to S of previous event. It vanishes
close to the inner edge of C3 fov.

09:00 - 10:55 UT	Temporary DSN Data Gap
