LASCO Activity Report for
January 27, 2004 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Stenborg

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

2004/01/23

06:54 UT S East	Narrow spray-like front followed by a small ragged
front at 09:06 UT and a ragged loop front at 11:06 UT,
the latter being faster than the one at 09:06 UT.

13:32 UT E Limb	Ragged loops' front with southern leg at roughly PA
			of previous event.

16:54 UT S East	Jet-like front at PA coincident with that of the
southern leg of previous event followed by spray-like
front and gusty outflow. Details missed due to data gap.

	17:30 - 19:31 UT	Data Gap.

22:30 UT S East	Narrow spray-like front slightly N of previous event.

2004/01/24

04:30 UT N West	Jet-like front. Barely visible in C3.

05:30 UT S West	Ragged loop front developing toward S. It fades close
to the inner edge of C3 fov, followed at 07:31 UT to
SE by a small ragged front that fades throughout C3,
and gusty outflow all along the day.

05:54 UT S East	Very faint relative narrow loop front, precursor of
another loop front that develops very slowly along the
day (first seen in C3 at 21:18 UT) and continues
			development well into next day.

19:54 UT S Pole	Faint narrow twisted structure.

20:06 UT W Limb	Spray front developing slightly to N.

2004/01/25

19:54 UT N West	Spray-like front.

	20:58 - 23:30 UT Data Gap.

2004/01/26

	02:06 - 09:54 UT	Temporary Data Gap.

13:54 UT E Limb	Small ragged front developing slightly to S.

15:30 UT HALO Loop front on SE limb immediatly followed by another
one slightly to N with faint extensions above NE limb,
both with cavity. Core material (16:06 UT) at the PA of
the southern leg of the second loop front. By 17:18 UT
C3 shows very faint but clearly discernible extensions
above W, and to a lesser extent above N, limbs. No
significant activity reported by GOES at the time.
Likewise no significant activity is seen in EIT Fe XII
images. The event has therefore been determined as
a 'full' halo CME most likely backsided.

2004/01/27

07:31 UT N Pole	Very faint narrow ragged loop front and twisted
trailing material preceded by a small and faint ragged
front from which it is difficult to determine the time
of first appearance in C2 (in C3: 05:42 UT).
