LASCO Activity Report for
December 29, 2003 SOHO Science Daily Meeting
Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence
Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.
Points Of Interest
SOHO is now in a telemetry keyhole, with roughly
30% data coverage. LASCO data will consist of
typically two (occasionally three) continuous
periods of real-time data per day
Bright sungrazing comet visible through whole of C3 field
of view on 2003/12/28, and midway through C2. Short tail
follows small bright head
2003/12/26
05:30 UT N East Very faint narrow ragged front along streamer,
faint gusty semi-steady outflow follows for
prolonged period
19:31 UT N West Very faint narrow ragged front, further
similar events follow
2003/12/27
00:20 - 03:00 UT Data gap
03:00 UT W Limb Fairly faint ragged front, quite wide
03:40 - 08:00 UT Data gap
14:20 - 21:03 UT Data gap
22:20 UT S East Faint narrow fan
22:20 UT N East Faint narrow spray-like front along streamer,
some prolonged outflow follows
2003/12/28
01:00 - 10:41 UT Data gap
11:00 UT N East Faint spray-like front
12:20 UT S East Very faint spray
14:00 - 20:20 UT Data gap
22:20 - 23:59 UT Data gap
2003/12/29
00:00 - 08:20 UT Data gap
08:25 UT S East Fairly wide bright ragged loop front
