LASCO Activity Report for
October 27, 2003 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

LASCO images somewhat degraded following the
X1.2 proton flare from AR 0484 2003/10/26

2003/10/24

02:54 UT E Limb	Thick wide bright loop front with strong
cavity and small bright structured core,
much gusty outflow. Slightly wider than
			previous day's 20:06 event. M7.9 X-ray
			flare AR 0486 S16E60

05:30 UT S East	Narrow bright loop front with slight cavity
and some ragged outflow. M4.3 X-ray flare
AR 0486 S16E60, to S of previous events,
accompanied by sequence of large blobs to N

16:30 UT S East	Fairly wide bright ragged loop front with
slight cavity and small core, much trailing
			material

19:54 UT S East	Asymmetric loop front with cavity and some
outflow, narrower and slower than previous
			event, but as bright

2003/10/25

04:30 UT S East	Wide bright ragged loop front fills quadrant,
with much gusty outflow and bright core-like
			region in E

08:30 UT N West	Faint ragged loop front perturbs streamer

10:34 UT S East	Faint loop front, possibly residual to
			04:30 event

18:30 UT W Limb	Narrow ragged front fades through C2

20:06 UT S East	Faint narrow loop front

2003/10/26

01:31 UT W Limb	Thick bright fairly wide loop front with
cavity and bright structured core, soon
			overtaken/obscured by 04:30 event

03:30 UT N West	Fronts and loops first visible along streamer
leading to slow prolonged partial blowout.
Fronts first visible over N pole by 07:31,
			eventually spanning ~100 deg

04:30 UT W Limb	Thick wide bright loop front with strong
cavity and bright structured core, faster
			than previous event

06:54 UT PARTIAL	Wide bright loop front with strong cavity
HALO and much gusty outflow including narrow
bright structured ejecta to N of E limb.
			Spans ~210 deg by 07:31. X1.2 X-ray flare
			AR 0486 S15E44

17:54 UT HALO Thick wide bright loop front over W limb
is full halo CME by 18:30 though very
			faint in E. X1.2 X-ray proton flare
AR 0484 N08W38, prolonged gusty outflow

2003/10/27

05:30 UT N West	Ragged loop front disintegrates through C2

08:30 UT W Limb	Wide bright loop front with cavity and
			much gusty outflow

09:30 UT S East	Faint ragged front fades through C2

12:54 UT N West	Fairly bright amorphous loop front spans to
close to W limb. EIT prominence eruption
