LASCO Activity Report for
October 23, 2003 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.

Points Of Interest

None today

2003/10/22

00:54 UT S East	Fairly narrow bright front with cavity,
small bright core and much trailing material

03:54 UT S East	Wide bright fast loop front with strong
cavity and small bright structured core.
Possible very faint extensions over N pole
to NW to resemble partial halo CME. Limb
			or backsided event

07:54 UT PARTIAL	Fairly slow wide bright loop front in NW
HALO develops to ~220 deg partial halo from
S to NE by 10:30 after component in S first
appears at 09:54. Frontsided event, filament
channels activated and destabilised by wave(?)
			associated with M3.7 X-ray flare from as-yet
			unnumbered AR on/over SE limb

15:30 UT E Limb	Narrow ragged front with some gusty outflow

16:30 UT E Limb	Asymmetric loop front with slight cavity
			follows previous event

17:06 UT E Limb	Very narrow ragged front slightly to S
			of previous events

20:06 UT E Limb	Thick bright loop front with cavity and slight
core and much trailing material, possible very
			faint extension over N pole

2003/10/23

02:54 UT E Limb	Narrow ragged front with cavity and some
gusty outflow, another follows at 06:06

07:31 UT E Limb	Narrow nebulous front, quite bright,
			slightly faster than previous events

08:54 UT HALO Fast thick wide bright loop front with strong
(Partial?)	cavity and small bright structured core.
Faint extensions over N and S pole and possible
			extremely faint extensions in W. X5.4 X-ray
flare AR 0486 S16E75, much associated activity
in and around AR 0484 centered N04E13
