LASCO Activity Report for
September 29, 2003 SOHO Science Daily Meeting
Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence
Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.
Points Of Interest
LASCO taking high cadence observations with
both C2 and C3 running at 10-min cadence for
duration of EIT bakeout, scheduled to end
2003/10/03 ~20 UT (TBC)
2003/09/26
08:10 UT N East Fairly narrow bright front with cavity and
gusty outflow, also faint extension to N pole
15:00 UT W Limb Faint narrow spray
16:30 UT S East Faint spray, brighter and faster than
previous event
2003/09/27
00:20 UT S West Faint narrow spray, others at 01:50, 03:10
01:50 UT N East
04:20 - 06:20 UT Temporary DSN data gap
08:10 UT E Limb Faint narrow asymmteric front just
N of equator
11:00 UT E Limb Wide bright spray with some gusty
outflow, just N of equator
11:30 - 13:00 UT Temporary DSN data gap
13:50 UT S West Extremely faint spray-like front
14:00 UT E Limb Narrow bright twisted front with cavity
2003/09/28
03:20 UT N West Sequence of faint ragged loop fronts with
brighter narrow core-like region and wider
fainter loops that expand to eventually
span over N pole
05:10 UT S East Ragged front along streamer, quite narrow
with much outflow
12:50 UT S East Wide bright thin loop front with slight
cavity and much structured trailing
material including very well-defined semi-
circular loops/loop fronts over S pole
14:30 UT N East Extremely faint ragged front with very
slight outflow
15:50 UT N West Faint narrow front, follows fainter still event
19:30 UT S West Initially narrow bright loop front resolves
to multiple-loop front with much structured
outflow
2003/09/29
01:00 - 10:50 UT Temporary DSN data gap
10:50 UT N West Extremely faint asymmteric loop front
already in progress
