LASCO Activity Report for
May 8, 2003 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

Mercury transited disk between ~07:45 - ~13:15 UT,
2003/05/07. No LASCO images between ~04 - ~16 UT
while EIT ran a high-cadence multi wavelength program

Mercury is now present in C2 images, moving L-R
away from the Sun

2003/05/07

01:54 UT S West	Narrow fan

04:25 UT	Last C2 image prior to Mercury transit

04:31 UT	Last C3 image prior to Mercury transit

16:06 UT	First C2 image following Mercury transit

16:18 UT	First C3 image following Mercury transit

<16:06 UT S East	Fairly wide ragged front already clear of
C2 field of view, leading edge at ~15 Rs.
			Slight cavity, some gusty outflow

16:06 UT N West	Very faint front

22:30 UT S Pole	Faint fan, quite wide

2003/05/08

01:31 UT N East	Faint asymmetric front with slight cavity,
			another at 03:54

10:30 UT N East	Narrow ragged front along same streamer
as earlier events, slight cavity and
			outflow follow
