January 31, 2003 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

Comet C/2002 X5 (Kudo-Fujikawa) is now leaving the
C3 field of view. The special observing campaign
will end ~18 UT 2003/01/31.

Synoptic observations will be modified during this period.

2003/01/30

01:25 UT W Limb	Very faint jet, slow

09:39 UT Halo Faint ragged front on NW develops to bright
bright loop front systems in NW and W and
ragged front in S by 10:06, then full halo
CME with complex morphology by 11:39 though
emission in E is faint. Huge EIT filament
eruption from NE to NW beginning ~06 UT

17:39 UT E Limb	Narrow ragged loop fronts follow extremely
slow loops that have been rising along bright
streamer for ~24 hrs. Wider faster fronts
follow leading to partial blowout, still in
			progress at writing

18:25 UT N West	Faint nebulous front, quite faint, possibly
			residual to halo event

23:06 UT W Limb Initially quite bright loop front fades
and disintegrates through C2. Further similar
			events follow

2003/01/31

06:39 UT N West	Fairly wide loop with cavity

10:06 UT S West	Faint ragged front

13:25 UT S West	Fairly bright loop front with slight cavity
