LASCO Activity Report for
July 8, 2002 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

Additional stray light in C3 images now removed
during standard image processing

C2 high-cadence pB sequence campaign now running.
C2 pB sequences being taken every hour at the expense
of 1 normal C2 image and 1 normal C3 image.
Campaign runs to 2002/08/02 (possibly later, TBD)

2002/07/05

00:54 UT S West	Faint fan-like front, fades through C2

02:54 UT S East	Faint narrow loop front along streamer

04:30 UT S West	Fairly wide bright loop front with
			some trailing material and bright
			core-like region to follow

13:31 UT W Limb	Thick bright loop front, quite wide and
			fast, streamer in SW disrupted

22:06 UT S West	Sequence of fairly wide loop fronts
			along/near streamer, quite bright and
			fast. Some continued outflow

2002/07/06

10:34 UT S Pole	Fairly bright nebulous front disintegrates
somewhat through C2. Quite bright and fast

20:06 UT W Limb	Bright ragged front along streamer,
			some gusty outflow

2002/07/07

05:30 UT S East	Narrow ragged front along streamer,
			fades quickly

11:06 UT W Limb	Wide bright loop front, fairly thick
and fast. Faint extensions to N and S
poles give appearance of partial halo
			CME. EIT limb/backsided event. Much
			trailing material, some protons

18:06 UT N West	Bright loop front originates close to
N edge of previous event. Narrower
and slower than previous event, some
			bright complex core-like material follows

23:06 UT W Limb	Narrow jet-like front, quite bright

2002/07/08

09:30 UT N East	Amorphous blob-like front, moderately
			bright

10:42 UT S West	Very slow loops begin to move out along
			streamer. Blowout in progress?
