LASCO Activity Report for
May 13, 2002 SOHO Science Daily Meeting
Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence
Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.
Points Of Interest
None today
2002/05/10
04:26 UT N West Extremely faint ragged front
05:50 UT S East Narrow ragged loop front along streamer
05:50 UT N West Moderately wide spray-like front, brightens
a little through C2
06:26 UT W Limb Narrow bright well-defined loop front with
cavity and core, some gusty outflow follows
06:26 UT N East Exceedingly faint loop front just visible
above noise. Others at 07:27, 10:06
15:26 UT S West Narrow ragged front along streamer, some
gusty outflow follows
16:50 UT W Limb Wide bright front with cavity followed by
some fainter core-like material
21:26 UT E Limb Narrow initially bright front fades in C2
2002/05/11
00:50 UT E Limb Even narrower front fades quickly
05:26 UT N East Very faint ragged front
06:06 UT S East Wide bright loop front with cavity and some
gusty outflow including some quite large blobs.
Streamer in NE disrupted
12:06 UT N West Sequence of faint ragged loop fronts, brightest
towards center, near streamer?
20:26 UT N East Fast faint loop front
2002/05/12
00:06 UT S East Very slowly-moving multiple loop front system
removes large part of streamer. Much trailing
material including flux ropes
02:50 UT N East Very faint front, quite fast
03:06 UT N West Moderately wide bright fast loop front with
cavity and small core-like region. Some
gusty outflow follows
07:27 UT S West Fairly bright multiple loop front system
with some trailing material
13:50 UT S West Narrow bright jet-like front, possibly
residual from earlier event
21:26 UT N East Initially very narrow front along streamer
widens through C2
22:06 UT S west Very narrow jet, quite fast
2002/05/13
01:27 UT S West Narrow loop front along streamer, similar
events follow at 05:26, 13:27, 15:50
09:50 UT N West Very faint loop front, quite wide
11:26 UT N East Wide bright loop front follows system of
narrow slow loops. Faint in SE. Cavity and
small faint multiple-loop core follow,
also some gusty outflow
