January 28, 2002 SOHO Science Daily Meeting
Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence
Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.
Points Of Interest
Planet Venus resumes pass in the C3 field moving right to left.
2002/01/25
03:30 UT N East Ragged front, small, faint.
05:30 UT N East Fainter, faster blob to N
06:30 UT N East Wider, brighter loop front spans both previous
events. Cavity, core and much trailing material
including sequence of narrow blobs over N pole
14:06 UT N East Ragged front fades in C2
20:30 UT W Limb Front along streamer fades quickly in C2
2002/01/26
No significant coronal events
2002/01/27
03:30 UT S West Fairly wide bright front with cavity
05:30 UT N East Initially bright front fades along streamer
09:54 UT N West Wide bright loop front with cavity and core
12:30 UT N West Wider, faster event obscures previous, spans
~100 deg. Some core-like material over W limb,
much trailing material. Streamers disrupted
including in NE. EIT backsided CME
20:58 UT N West Narrower event, quite fast. Further fronts to S
a little later
2002/01/28
06:30 UT E Limb Very slow loop system, another follows slightly
to S but equally slow
07:54 UT W Limb Ragged front breaks up in C2. Another similar
event follows at 12:30
10:54 UT S East Bright front with cavity and core, has extension
up into NE
