August 28, 2001 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.

Points Of Interest

Non-Kreutz comet (disc. DH Chen) seen in C2 images on 2001/08/25 moving
southwards through C2 into C3, reaching 7.9 Rs before turning around and
returning to C2 where it faded by 20:00 UT on 2001/08/26

2001/08/24

00:50 UT S West	Fast bright spray

02:27 UT E Limb	Narrow front, follows fainter outflow

08:50 UT N East	Bright narrow front along streamer

09:26 UT S East	Multiple-loop front along streamer, cavity
and core follow, then gusty outflow

10:50 UT E Limb	Bright blob/narrow front

2001/08/25

00:50 UT S East	Bright fairly narrow front along streamer.
			Faint cavity follows

10:30 UT S East	Similar to previous event but slower and
followed by arcades and gusty outflow

16:50 UT HALO Bright front fills S East quadrant and is full
halo CME in C2 by 17:26 although fairly faint
			NW. X5.3 flare in AR 9591, 1130 km/s

21:26 UT W Limb	Faint ragged fronts followed by bright narrow
			front/prominence material at 23:26

2001/08/26

05:26 UT E Limb	Narrow ragged front with some gusty outflow,
			follows similar but fainter event

07:27 UT N West	Fairly wide bright front with small faint
cavity and some core-like material. Plentiful
			arcades and gusty outflow follow

09:26 UT N East	System of faint loop fronts fade through C2

13:27 UT E Limb	Ragged front fades through C2, some gusty outflow

2001/08/27

01:50 UT S West	Fast fairly faint loop front, followed by
further faint loops somewhat to N

07:27 UT N West	Faint loop front

11:06 UT N East	Small blob/narrow front

13:27 UT S West	Faint wide spray fades through C2

17:26 UT W Limb	Bright narrow front with much continued outflow

23:50 UT S Pole	Faint narrow jet

2001/08/28

00:27 UT S East	First of several faint blobs, follows numerous
			similar events from previous day
