August 21, 2001 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.

Points Of Interest

Proton fluxes now normal in both coronagraphs following the
halo CME and proton storm late on 2001/8/15.

2001/08/19

06:06 UT N West	Thick wide bright front with cavity and core
and some arcades. Streamer to N disrupted.

11:30 UT W Limb	Faint wide loop front follows narrower faster
front. Core-like material follows at 14:31

12:54 UT E Limb	Bright front, fairly narrow, cavity follows

20:30 UT E Limb	Bright narrow ragged front with cavity and core

21:30 UT S East	Faint loop front fills quadrant and crosses
S Pole. Some gusty outflow in SW. Probably
			backsided

2001/08/20

00:54 UT N East	Small bright front/large blob, fairly fast

08:31 UT S East	Narrow bright spray, narrow front follows

12:54 UT S West	Narrow loop front

17:06 UT S West	Fairly faint slow ragged front along faint
diffuse streamer. Prolonged gusty outflow follows

19:50 UT E Limb	Initially bright front fades in C2, cavity follows,
some slower gusty outflow. Further similiar event
			at 11:06 8/21

2001/08/21

05:26 UT N West	Nebulous front with faint arcades

12:06 UT S West	Wide bright loop front with cavity and core,
			currently in progress
