LASCO Activity Report for
August 21, 2001 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.
An archive of these reports is available.

Points Of Interest

Proton fluxes now normal in both coronagraphs following the
halo CME and proton storm late on 2001/8/15.

2001/08/17

00:54 UT S West	Thick wide fast bright loop front fills
quadrant, fades through C2. Cavity, core
and arcades follow, prolonged gusty outflow
			including disconnection feature

08:06 UT S East	Faint fast wide front

09:30 UT N Pole	Narrow bright front along streamer

09:54 UT S West	Bright blob/narrow front

13:31 UT N East	Fairly bright ragged front

15:54 UT W Limb	Bright wide 'spray' resolves to narrow front
			and fades in C2

2001/08/18

05:30 UT N West	Bright loop front emerges along bright streamer.
CME follows around 18:30, arcades and fronts
			follow, and much gusty outflow

14:31 UT S East	Bright ragged front along streamer, initially slow

14:54 UT S West	Prolonged narrow jet

2001/08/19

	00:00 - 14:54 UT	Temporary data gap

14:54 UT W Limb	Faint wide loop front already in progress

14:54 UT E Limb	Bright front, fairly narrow, already in progress.
			Cavity follows

	18:06 - 21:30 UT	Temporary data gap

21:30 UT Partial	Event already in progress, probably multiple events.
Halo? Loop front(s) around significant part of occultor,
brightest in S, faintest in N

2001/08/20

00:54 UT N East	Small bright front/large blob, fairly fast
