Points Of Interest

LASCO C2 and C3 doors opened August 2, 2001 at 17:30 UT.  
Synoptic image program resumed at 21:00 UT.

Planet Mercury in Lasco C3 and C2 fields of view moving right to left.

A Sungrazing Comet is visible in the C2 and C3 images 8/4 23:18 UT till
8/5 06:54 UT.  Comet discovered by Toni Scarmato.


2001/08/03

00:30 UT  N East	Event already in progress.  Very large
			structure and possible partial HALO CME.
			Material seen from PA 280-200 degrees.

03:57 UT  N East	Bright ragged ejecta.  Jet-like event.

16:54 UT  S East	Jet with southward shift.

2001/08/04

08:06 UT  N West	Very bright loop front over limb.  Slow event.
			Large multiloopings and core.  Complex
			structures and continued outflows.
			Filament related event.
	10:56:08 UT C2 Running Difference Image.

15:30 UT  S West	Jet, narrow.

15:30 UT  N Pole	Narrow jet-like event with outflows.
			By 18:54 UT a possible second event starts, small.		

2001/08/05

02:54 UT  SS West	Rising loops over limb.  Rough helmut front
			with multiple interior loopings.  Very slow.
			Event breakes free by 06:06 UT as a 
			large loop event with core and continued outflow.
			Filament related event.
	06:54:05 UT C2 Running Difference Image.

03:54 UT  NN East	Bright symetrical loop front event.
			[Notice the dark jet "absorption" ? feature
			in movie on West edge of event.]

01:32 UT  N Pole	Small faint puff event.

06:30 UT  S East	Bright jet, narrow, fast.

		07:30 UT begins temporary DSN data gap period.
