LASCO Activity Report for
May 16, 2001 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.

Points Of Interest

Saturn is presently transiting C3's field of view,
moving left to right below the ecliptic plane.

Much activity in the N East and over the E Limb at
present, probably associated with the third transit
of AR 9393, subsequently renamed AR 9433 and now
AR 9461

2001/05/15

01:50 UT E Limb	Prolonged ragged outflow

03:52 UT S West	Ragged front, fairly faint, ragged outflow follows
with some bright features. M1 flare in AR 9455

06:26 UT E Limb	Ragged narrow front brighter than earlier events
			from same/similar source region

07:29 UT E Limb	Another front, brighter and faster. Arcades
			and cross-hatching follow

12:26 UT E Limb	Spray along lower edge of streamer

15:26 UT S West	Narrow bright front with cavity and core, which
resolves to a system of slower, fainter loops

15:26 UT E Limb	Another spray along streamer

17:06 UT E Limb	And another, but brighter

18:52 UT N East	Wide bright loop front with cavity and complex
			helical core. Numerous arcades, cross-hatching
and gusty outflow that continue long into next
day. EIT eruptive prominence was well-observed
			in both 195 and 304 A. AR 9461 (old 9393)?
	C2 Running Difference movie.

2001/05/16

05:26 UT N West	Narrow faint spray

06:06 UT S East	Fairly wide loop front expands and fades in
C2, barely visible behind pylon in C3
