LASCO Activity Report for
May 14, 2001 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.

Points Of Interest

EIT bakeout has ended and EIT is presently cooling down. Post-bake
cals due to commence around 19:30 and synoptic observations
expected after 23:00. LASCO high-cadence synoptic campaign began
2001/05/11 at 00:00 UT. C3 images at 15 min cadence with two evenly
spaced C2 images taken in between. No colour sequences will be taken
during this campaign, which ends ~19:30 UT 2001/05/14. Timings given
below are approximate due to a subset of the data being analysed.

2001/05/11

01:45 UT S West	Faint narrow loops rise along streamer
			then lift off

03:45 UT N West	Fairly faint front/fans

07:30 UT S West	Wide loop front fills quadrant, cavity
			and arcades follow

13:00 UT S Pole	Sequence of wide loops and cavities

17:15 UT W Limb	Faint spray

18:15 UT W Limb	Ragged front with gusty outflow

19:45 UT N East	Bright front, fades in C2

2001/05/12

02:30 UT S Pole	Fairly bright front, sequence of loops follows,
also cavities and some core material

18:15 UT S Pole	Gusty outflow with some quite bright features,
			fades in C2

23:15 UT N Pole	Slow loops along streamer, fairly bright

2001/05/13

04:00 UT S Pole	Bright front with cavity and core

08:30 UT S West	Ragged gusty flow along streamer

08:30 UT N East	Narrow front

11:00 UT E Limb	Narrow bright front with gusty outflow

11:30 UT S West	Bright front resolves to system of loops
with core. Prolonged arcades and cross-hatching

14:30 UT N Pole	Wide bright loop front with cavity and core

22:30 UT W Limb	Bright spray

2001/05/14

02:00 UT W Limb	Ragged front with arcades

04:00 UT N East	Bright front with core and arcades

08:15 UT W limb	Bright loop front with cavity and core.
			Arcades and cross-hatching follow
