LASCO Activity Report for
April 9, 2001 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.

Points Of Interest

Kreutz Sungrazing Comet discovered by S.Hoenig. A bright comet
with visible tail through C3 and C2 fields of view.
2001/04/07 12:57 UT till 2001/04/08 20:06 UT.

This is SOHOs 303rd comet discovery!

2001/04/06

	01:27 - 04:50 UT	Data gap

04:50 UT E Limb	Ragged front with cavity and small core
			along streamer, already in progress

05:06 UT E Limb	Faint V-shaped front

05:26 UT N West	Fairly large faint blob

05:50 UT E Limb	Irregular front with several bright features,
			overtakes 05:50 front

09:06 UT N West	Wide front, brighter in S. Cavity and subsequent
			loop in S

11:06 UT W Limb	Fast narrow jet.

18:06 UT SS East	In progress; bright front with core, continued
			outflow.

18:06 UT East Limb	Smaller CME with bright loop front and
a jet-like CME to it's North. Both may
			possible be related. Fast.
18:54:02 UT C2 Running Difference Image.

19:30 UT East Limb	Full Halo CME event in Corona. Speeds of event
			exceeding 1100 km/sec. Results of X5.6 x-ray
flare of AR 9415 seen in EIT.
20:06:05 UT C2 Running Difference Image.

2001/04/07

00:30 UT West Limb	Narrow jet.

10:26 UT S Pole	Narrow jet, fast.

17:17 UT West Limb	Very fast; helmet front. Complex interior structure
with twisting. Develops to a wide event at PA
			200-15 degrees.
18:10:39 UT C2 Running Difference Image.

20:54 UT NN West	Small rough front, dissipated quickly.

2001/04/08

00:29 UT S East	Rough jaged front, small dissipated quickly.

08:06 UT N Pole	Defined bright front, small, multiloop, complex outflow.

12:29 UT S West	Jagged front, large, complex interior structures
			much continued outflows.

2001/04/09

00:30 UT S East	Very large bright loop front with core.
At 02:30 UT a second event which follows
develops material from PA 10-200 degrees.
01:31:47 UT C2 Running Difference Image.
02:54:01 UT C2 Running Difference Image.
