LASCO Activity Report for
March 27, 2001 SOHO Science Daily Meeting

Planner: K. Schenk, G. Lawrence

Event times are first frame seen in C2 camera unless otherwise noted.
These are preliminary observations for the daily SOHO science discussions.
Final analysis is reported on the Lasco CME list.

Points Of Interest

Kreutz sungrazing comet SOHO 299(TBC) (discoverer: M. Boschat) in C2
field of view, prior to data gap. It can be seen at ~6.6 Rs at PA 126
in the 00:26 UT image. Brighter than average, with significant tail.

2001/03/25

17:06 UT Halo Thin front initially bright fades in C2, over N Pole
from PA 350 to 50. Fainter extensions to ~PA160 and
very faint over S and W. Plane-of-sky speed to
~18 Rs about 638 km/s with significant deceleration.
C9 flare in AR 9394 peaks around 17:00

2001/03/26

00:26 UT W Limb	Slow bright ragged front along narrow faint
			streamer. Prolonged outflow includes cross-hatching

05:50 UT N East	Faint ragged front/fan followed by flux ropes

12:50 UT W Limb	Faint loop(s)

13:50 UT E Limb	Highly irregular blob resolves to Y-type
disconnection feature in C2. Brightest feature
on faint loop front, cavity follows

15:26 UT N East	Wide jet/ragged front along streamer

	20:50 - 23:50	Temporary data gap

23:50 UT N East	Similar to 15:26 event but wider and brighter.
			Gusty outflow follows

2001/03/27

00:26 - 07:50 UT	Data gap due to strike at Canberra

11:06 UT N East	Very faint fan.
