Since SOHO's launch, the WIND magnetometer team (MFI) has
identified five possible data sets which indicate magnetic
cloud events of solar origin. The physical nature of these
events is unclear; rough estimates indicate that the total
magnetic flux in one of these events ( greater than 30 earth radii in size)
exceeds an average-sized active region. Still, the magnetogram
data has not yet revealed the regions responsible for these
events.

EIT is required to trace the evolution and intensity of
magnetic field lines and footpoints of suspected cloud
events. An event travelling at 450 km/sec (typical cloud
speed) will take approximately 3.5 days to reach L1. The data
set will consist of the full-field images for the fifth day
through the third day previous to the cloud event in all four
wavelengths, with emphasis on the iron lines. These data
will be linked with MDI, Yohkoh, and LASCO data to attempt
to understand the origin of magnetic clouds.
