proposal
In the period June 16th-20th, 1996, a complex system of active
region loops was observed above the East limb by the LASCO-C1
coronagraph. LASCO detected several mass ejections, both in
white light and coronal emission lines, that were probably
associated with eruptive flares in this region. EIT images
from this period would be used to study the evolution of
the active region loops, in particular to study changes in
magnetic topology following the mass ejections observed by
LASCO. A collaboration is also being initiated with the
Yohkoh/SXT team (Hugh Hudson) to study the X-ray signatures.

The EIT data of primary interest for this proposal are the
full-field images at 195 A (3 per day), 171 A (2 per day)
and 284 A (1 per day) for the time interval mentioned above.

A poster presentation on the (preliminary) analysis of these
events will be given at the Chapman Conference on CMEs in
Bozeman from August 11th-15th, 1996. A more complete
analysis will be written up for journal publication in the
next few months.
