proposal
Active Regions and sunspots have been observed
with a ground-basesd telescope (GCT, Tenerife), SUMER
CDS and MDI between 15 and 21. September 1997
(campaign #1960).
I had requested to include EIT in this investigation
which is aimed at comparing high resolution magnetic
field information (from ground) with intensity and spectro-
scopic information (from the SoHO instruments) of
the same region on the sun.
The ground-based observations include simultaneous
observations of photospheric and chromospheric spectral lines
in Stokes I and V to get a detailed spatial map of the magnetic
field in these two heights in the solar atmosphere.
SUMER and CDS will provide additional spectral information from
a number of chromospheric, TR and coronal lines and EIT
will add intensity information in the highest regions of the
atmosphere (using Fe XII 195 A).
MDI provides additional photospheric magnetic field maps.

Jeff Newmark was the EIT planner of this period and carred out
the EIT program. He will also act as collaborative member
of the EIT consortium of this proposal.

Near-IR measurements of active regions and sunspot together with SOHO (II)

update added on 1999/02/16 at 07:58:34

All EIT data of this week have been received, already reduced.
We made movies of the subfield images which were also
compared (roughly) with movies of CDS data.
Full disk images were used to show the position and evolution of
the AR over the week.

A first presentation of this work including CDS, EIT, SUMER and the GCT
was given at the 3rd ASP Euroconference in Caputh, Germany,
in Sept. 98 (S"utterlin)
and the 2nd Solar Polarization Workshop in Bangalore, India,
in Oct. 98 (Muglach).
Oral presentation:
K. Muglach and P. S"utterlin:
The three-dimensional structure of Solar active regions derived
from SOHO and ground based observations

Co-alignment of the various instruments is in progress now.
